LINUM CORYMBULOSUM

Meaning:- Linum (L) Ancient name for flax.
Corymbulosum (Gr) With small corymbs.
General description:- Herbaceous annual.
Stems:-
1) 10-45 cm, erect, inconspicuously hairy, slender often branched below.
Leaves:-
1) 1.5-3(-5) mm wide, serrulate, very rough, often inrolled.
Flower:-
1) Inflorescence, lax, with long, very slender pedicels not overtopped by the
adjacent leaves.
2) Sepals, 4-6 mm, ovate to lanceolate, long acuminate, minutely serrulate and
glandular, ciliate.
3) Petals, 6-12mm, yellow.

Fruit:-
1) Capsule, 2-2·5 mm, subglobose, beak c. 0·3 mm. homostylous.
Key features:-
1) Leaf-margins, rough, finely serrulate (but sometimes revolute).
2) Leaves, narrowly lanceolate, more than 1 mm wide.
Habitat:- Dry open shrubby vegetation, scrubland vegetation, dry grassland, open
coniferous woodland, olive groves. 0-1200 m.
Distribution:- Widespread in the Mediterranean region. Widespread and common
on Crete.
Flowering time:- Late April to mid-June.
