Common Names:- Hoary willowherb

Meaning:- Epilobium (L) A name used by Gesner the Swiss physician and
naturalist. to indicate the position of the corolla above the ovary.
                  Parviflorum (L) Small-flowered.

General description:- A rhrizomatous perennial.

Stem:-
1) Up to 30-80 cm, slender, sparsely pilose, simple or sparingly branched..

Leaves:-
1) 2·5-10 x 0·7-3 cm, oblong- to linear-lanceolate, subsessile, weakly serrulate.

Flowers:-
1) Petals, 4-9 mm, purplish-pink.

Fruit:-
1) Seeds, c. 1 mm, obovoid.

Key features:-
1) Leaves, not amplexicaul
2) Petals, 5-9 mm.

Habitat:- Riverbanks in semi-shade, reedswamps, damp habitats along roads,
ditches. 0-1100 m.

Distribution:- Scattered throughout Greece.Most of Europe, scattered in NW Africa
and W Asia. Scattered with limited distribution on Crete.

Flowering time:- Late Apr to early Sept.
