Common Names:- Bastard hemp

Homotypic Synonyms:- None

Meaning:- Datisca (Gr) Meaning obscure, but perhaps reference to the divided
leaves.
                  Cannabina (L) Cannabis-like.

General description:- Robust, glabrous perennial

Stems:-
1) Up to 1 m.

Leaves:-
1) Imparipinnate; leaflets lanceolate, acuminate, coarsely serrate.

Flowers:-
1) Small, interspersed with entire bracts in long racemes subtended by the upper
    leaves.

Habitat:- Stream banks, road embankments and by springs, damp shady places in
gorges and olive groves. 50-800 m.

Distribution:- Limited distribution in the Aegean area, widespread in Anatolia,
extending to N. Iran and W. Himalaya. Limited distribution to W Crete. Rare.

Flowering time:- Late May to Sept.
